For the past 2 years, you have fought as members of the Screaming Eagles mercenary company in the Zahzanii civil wars. First fighting for one warlord, then for another, you have travelled wherever your Captain could obtain a contract. Captain Gorvasii of Kalamar was a rare Captain who treated his men fairly and paid on time. During your time in the company, you became good friends with a select few people within the company. Those friends are travelling with you now on your journey to Emosvom.
The Screaming Eagles mercenary company’s final contract was for Baron Whoshoeh. The Baron had hired the Screaming Eagles to escort his son to a secret meeting within the Vohven Jungle. Along the pathways of the Jungle, the company was ambushed by a group of unknown beings armed with bows and arrows, along with javelins. Most of your company were killed.
You managed to escape the ambush by virtue of being on rear patrol when the attack happened. When you returned from the patrol, you discovered the dead and dying members of your company. Amongst the dying was your close friend, Quartermaster Sevlen.
Sevlen had taken a javelin to the stomach and was mortally wounded. Before he died, he told you that the ambush was by a group of Dejy and hobgoblins. He did not know who they were. He also told you that the Baron would be furious over the attack. Baron Whoshoeh is not known as a kind man and he would probably nail any surviving members of the Screaming Eagles to a wall and use them for target practice if he could find them. Sevlen also told you that he had recently received news from his old friend and former comrade in arms, Amar Mihzani.
Amar is looking to hire a group for a special mission into the Vohven Jungle. Sevlen recommends you flee east to Emosvom and meet his old friend there. He describes Amar as a large, red bearded Kalamarian with one leg. He says that the former knight is hard to miss and you should have no trouble finding him in Emosvom.
